The Mobile Security Card 3.1 MicroSD™ from Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) offers the advantages of a user-friendly mass storage card with an established standard interface and the security of smart card technology— all combined on a single card.
Standardized slots for the commonly available mass storage cards are available as standard with the new generations of mobile phones, PDAs, or laptops and open up new fields of application for these devices.
The application on the mobile device accesses the smart card functionality (e.g. the securely stored private keys) on the Mobile Security Card and thus provides the same security level as a standard smart card system. The main advantage here: an additional smart card reader is no longer required, which greatly simplifies the use of secure encoding techniques, especially on the move.
