SafeSign Identity Client

Benefits

Strong authentication

SafeSign IC enforces two- or multi factor authentication/logon to the network, client PC or application, requiring the end user to have both the USB token or smart card (something you have) and a Personal Identity Number (something you know) or even biometrics. USB tokens and smart cards are physically and logically tamper-resistant, ensuring that the end user’s digital credentials can not be copied, modified or shared.

Authentication based on smart cards or USB tokens provides the highest degree of security.

Session authentication & roaming

SafeSign IC enables users to switch workstations but continue in the same session (session roaming) when working in Microsoft® Terminal Server, Citrix® or Sun environments, independent of the smart card reader or operating system used.

Single Sign On and support for different applications

In environments with demand for strong authentication, encryption and/or digital signatures, the smart card or USB token can hold X.509 certificates administered and accessed by the SafeSign Identity Client middleware, leveraging the use of your smart card or token to a solution for multiple applications.

This enables use of USB tokens or smart cards by any application supporting digital certificates, such as Microsoft®, Adobe®, Check Point®, Citrix® and many more.

Secure transactions & information

Supports the use of tokens for other functionality like encryption and digital signing. For example, Microsoft Outlook can be configured to use the certificate on the end user’s token to digitally sign e-mail messages, or en- and decrypt e-mails including attachments.

Card and token management

The SafeSign IC administration utility provides the program administrator with the ability to manage USB tokens, smart cards and the credentials they contain. The administrator can set the card PIN, unblock the card, import and delete digital certificates and keys and set root certificates. SafeSign IC also provides an end user utility, which allows the user to browse certificates or change the PIN.

SafeSign IC enables the import of digital certificates and the secure storage of externally generated keys. SafeSign IC also permits applications to initiate key generation directly on smart cards or USB tokens. Thus the key will never leave the token and is not vulnerable to identity theft.

Flexibility without extra costs

Customers are free to start using smart cards with an easy administrable solution for local access control at the secured client. Later on they can add applications to the smart card or USB token as the demand grows, up to certificates as part of a PKI solution, without having to change the smart cards, USB tokens or client infrastructure.

Standards based

SafeSign IC is based on well-established industry standards, ensuring interoperability with the largest possible range of applications and devices. SafeSign IC supports both Microsoft Windows Cryptographic Services and RSA Labs’ Public Key Cryptographic Standards, the two most widely adopted cryptographic interfaces, as well as Java Card™, the most widely implemented smart card operating system.

Wide range of devices

SafeSign IC supports a wide range of smart cards and USB tokens from a large variety of vendors. This ensures you can choose the device that meets your specific requirements, whether you need the highest performance or the most cost-effective solution.
Marx CrypToken MX2048-JCOP is also supported; the unique steel designer case is physically und logically tamper-resistant.

With its CCID interface the only prerequisite you need is a PC with a USB connection.

Broad user base

SafeSign IC is proven to be reliable by over 14 million users worldwide, from consumer to enterprise markets, in all industries where information matters, like eGovernment, Finance & Insurance, Healthcare, Education and other industries.
